Who owns discovery cove
We mean it when we say you can thoroughly enjoy a day at Discovery Cove Orlando without any upgrades or add-ons, and you can keep busy with the included wildlife and activities! However, some of the neatest animal encounters and luxurious relaxation additions do come at an additional cost.
We find these once-in-a-lifetime experiences to be both reasonably priced and worth it. With any of the animal encounters, one of our favorite parts is learning from the animal ambassadors and educators. The Discovery Cove Orlando team members are truly passionate about what they do, and it shows!
It will touch your heart to see them interact with their beloved animal friends, and it's super fun to learn so much about the wildlife! The dolphin swim is our favorite part of every visit to Discovery Cove Orlando, and is especially enchanting for first-timers.
In small groups, you get to meet a dolphin to touch or hug before taking a swim alongside him or her. The dolphins are ready to pose for solo and group shots, including one with a kiss on the cheek!
You even get to help the trainers encourage the dolphin to perform some of their coolest behaviors. I'm sure you want to know more about this unfrogettable experience. Unvaccinated guests must wear a face covering and maintain physical distancing though you're allowed to pull the mask down under your chin for photos. Dolphin interactions take place in shallow water. You'll need to make a reservation to do this experience.
Call to add this experience to your reservation. We've never had an experience like this outside of Discovery Cove Orlando! Available for ages 10 and up, this underwater walking tour uses unbelievable "astronaut" helmets as Tad called them to experience the sea in a whole new light.
Spend 20 to 25 minutes underwater with an oxygen helmet that will make adventuring underwater practically as easy as taking a stroll on land, guided by an animal expert that will give you fun facts along the way. You'll have an opportunity to touch sea life and be surrounded by gorgeous fish, rays and sharks. Fair warning: This experience is not meant for the claustrophobic!
However, it was much easier to adjust to than I anticipated. If any problem arises, you can use hand signals at any time to return to land. Each dive is limited to nine people. You should not drink alcohol before your tour or fly within four hours of participating, so schedule accordingly! Personal GoPros are allowed, or you can borrow an underwater camera to take photos, which can be added to a photo package or purchased separately.
We were lucky enough to splurge on a cabana during our most recent visit to Discovery Cove Orlando, and we loved every second. Cabanas add a new level of privacy, convenience and luxury to make your visit even better. Each cabana has its own table and chairs, chaise lounges, private locker, fresh towels and unlimited snacks and drinks. There are different levels of cabanas. We recommend asking for a cabana with the best view of the dolphins! Not only is it a peaceful area, but admiring the fantastic dolphins will keep your tadpoles entertained.
If you are not ready to splurge on a cabana, but you want a comfortable oversized Day Bed to call your own for the day, two adults with a maximum of four guests can relax on a nice bed.
For larger parties, you may purchase additional day beds. Take a private minute tour with Animal Ambassadors for a behind-the-scenes experience with some of the birds and small animals at Discovery Cove Orlando.
Fun fact: Otters are our favorite animals Actual animal experiences may vary as the tour has been reduced from 90 minutes down to Animal Trek and Shark Swim take place at the same time, so you will need to pick between the two experiences if you're interested in both.
Available for only a limited number of guests per day talk about VIP! Put on a wetsuit and hop in the water to feed Cownose and Southern Stingrays, along with thousands of tropical fish, their morning meal during a private swim in the Grand Reef. While about 30 to 45 minutes will be spent in the water, allow at least an hour and 45 minutes for the entire experience.
This early-morning experience begins and ends with a private stroll with the flamboyance aka a group of flamingos. You'll go to the shore to feed them one-on-one before wading in the water with them. Professional photographers will be there to capture the moment, and experts will be there to share fun facts and answer questions.
Tad is begging to try this new offering, and we can't wait to check it out! Personal cameras are not allowed for the safety of the animals, but other party members are allowed to take photos and video of the interaction.
The most ultimate in upgrades, this Discovery Cove Orlando experience is perfect for animal lovers ages 6 and up. Included in this small-group experience are a second enhanced dolphin interaction, fish feeding in the Grand Reef, special meet-and-greets with tropical birds and small mammals, a private session in the otter habitat, a behind-the-scenes tour of Discovery Cove Orlando and shadowing a trainer for the day.
Just in case the unlimited wine and beer weren't enough, you can always upgrade your drink package to include signature cocktails, a fully stocked liquor bar, craft and domestic beers and upgraded red and white wines. Of course, this is only available to guests 21 and older! Keep memories of your special day alive with photos while keeping your phone and camera dry and safely locked up.
There are several photo packages to choose from at Discovery Cove Orlando. You can see them all here. Discovery Cove is committed to the health and safety of guests, employees and animals. If you visit while COVID is still out there, you can expect to see some of the same guidelines you might expect at the other Orlando theme parks. These protocols and guidelines will be modified as the situation, industry standards and public health guidelines evolve. Based on the recently announced guidance from the U.
Centers for Disease Control, face coverings will no longer be required for guests at Discovery Cove who are fully vaccinated in accordance with CDC guidance. Discovery Cove does not require proof of vaccination, but asks guests to respectfully comply with the revised policy. All Discovery Cove employees will be required to continue to wear face coverings at this time. Face coverings are still required for unvaccinated guests 2 and older at the park entrance, retail areas, food and beverage areas and other designated areas, such as Explorer's Aviary.
Face coverings are not required in the water such as the lazy river and all other water attractions except during the Signature Dolphin Swim Experience. Masks must cover the nose and mouth and be secured under the chin, as well as secured either with ear loops or behind the head. Masks with exhalation valves, mesh or holes of any kind are not permitted. No costume masks. We're already hoppin' to head back to Discovery Cove Orlando, and we hope you're ready for your first or returning visit too.
Have any questions about what's included in your resort day here? Shoot us a comment. Tags: Discovery Cove. We are bringing a 9 month old. Is Discovery Cove a pretty friendly place for our little guy?
Also, if we make a reservation for a day in December and the weather is going to be freezing because we have been that unlucky before do we have one complimentary change like on the Sea World website? Thank you! While most of the add-on experiences do have an age requirement such as the Dolphin Swim, SeaVenture, etc.
The lazy river can go as deep as 8 feet, but life jackets are included with admission. Discovery Cove does allow one complimentary change, subject to availability. Bookings made within 14 days of original reservation date will be booked at the original rate. Bookings made outside of that time will be subject to change based on seasonal rates for the new date chosen. Or is it just the standing interaction?
Yes, usually the dolphin swim is in deeper water. Because of the restrictions, the swimming part stays in the shallow water but you still get to ride the dolphin.
If you leave right when they are closing will you still be able to get pictures on the way out? Also should I prepay for a package or wait till I get there? We are doing the dolphin swim. The gift shops remain open for a bit after the waterways close at 5 p.
If you're interested in the Discovery Photo Package or Premier Photo Package, we'd recommend buying in advance, as it saves you some money.
We have a VIP cabana scheduled for our upcoming visit. I see that you recommended asking for the one with the best view of the dolphins. Did you ask for that at checkin or did you add it to your reservation at the time of booking? All VIP cabanas have a view of the dolphins, but you can toadally request the very best view!
We'd recommend doing it at both booking and check-in. Have fun! You can expect an average high of 75 degrees and a low of 55 degrees in December layering weather for sure! At Discovery Cove, certain areas, such as the saltwater habitats, The Grand Reef and the dolphin lagoons, are maintained at a constant temperature year-round for its inhabitants about 76 degrees.
The freshwater areas, The Wind a Way river and Freshwater Oasis are heated in the cooler months to a minimum of 82 degrees. Others in the Frog Pond may be able to weigh in more with tips on visiting Discovery Cove in the cooler months :.
Do you happen to know how much the a la carte alcoholic beverages price range is? Debating upgrading to the premium package or just buying as we go when we go in a few weeks. We don't, unfortunately - if you'll be having more than a couple of the premium drinks, we'd imagine that the cost of the package is worth it ; Otherwise, some beer, wine and frozen drinks will be included with your admission! Have a great time! We don't currently offer drink tickets for Discovery Cove, unfortunately.
Thanks for checking with us first! I bought the three park package. Is parking included with that package at all three parks or just Discovery Cove? Other tickets only feature complimentary parking at Discovery Cove. My husband and I are going in feburary. I wanted to do swim with dolphins, feed the Ray's and the seavenutre. Will there be enough time in the day to do all that? And check out the rest of the things there? Because there is a limit to the number of people allowed in, you can have a more relaxing and enjoyable experience and should have enough time to do all of it.
Your site indicates that Alcohol beverages are included. A selection of beer and wine are included with your day. However, there's a package upgrade available if you'd prefer premium cocktails, beer and wine instead.
Hope this helps! When you pick your day for Discovery Cove, does the 14 day unlimited pass to the other parks have to be after that date. How would the pricing work for this? Would the pricing for the Discovery Cove date to when you would first use it at one of the other parks because the dates I'm looking at have a price decrease mid week. Hope this makes sense The prices for the Discovery Cove packages change based on seasonality. The pricing will be based on the date of your Discovery Cove reservation, rather than the first day that you visit the other parks.
For the unlimited pass, all visits must be used within a 14 consecutive day window of the your reservation day at Discovery Cove can be before or after, or a combination of both. You'll want to book your ticket for the day that you'll be visiting Discovery Cove. Hope this makes sense - have a wonderful time! I'm planning on bringing my kids in March I'm looking at places where to stay and the packages. Is there a package that allows us to do 2 days in a row?
You can book two days in a row, but we think they'd need to be booked separately as in, there aren't any packages offered currently that offer two days to Discovery Cove. Otters are included in your admission price in Freshwater Oasis yay! Swimming with sharks or dolphins would be extra, but viewing the them is included in your base cost for the day.
Hope this helps - and that your little otter-lover has a wonderful time! Just curious, do you have to upgrade to the premium drinks to try the special tropical drinks or can you just buy one whe you go?
Thank you for all of the detailed information. My husband and I are surprising our 3 children ages 10, 9, and 4 for our week long vacation in July. I am trying to plan maybe a 3 day adventure there for 3 children, 11, 7 and 5 and 4 adults. Is there any packages for that length of time or what would be the best. We will be flying in from up north Thanks. Thanks for stopping by! We have a lot of great planning resources for you, which you can find here. Within this same area, you can find information about specific theme parks, touring plans and tips.
Let us know if you have any questions! Was wondering how December normally is as far as weather? The highs are typically mids for December. That said, the water is heated in many of the pools, and there are wet suits available for use! Whats included with the dolphin package? We were thinking about just swimming with the dolphins and then going to seaworld.
The dolphin package is an add-on, so you'll get access to Discovery Cove amenities, plus a dolphin greeting, a learning session with an animal care specialist, and a one-on-one dolphin interaction, followed by a swim with a dolphin. Is the cabana worth it or does it feel limited to have to stay in one spot? And it mentioned to request a cabana by the dolphin area- can you do that when you book or you have to wait until you are there? This just depends on your family's preferences as to whether or not it's worth it.
Some folks like having a central place to sit and relax out of the sun; others move around enough that the cost isn't justified.
Totally up to you! If you do decide to get a cabana, you can request to be closer to the dolphin area when you make your reservation or can call or email guest relations directly to do so. We are headed to Orlando in April and will be visiting Discovery Cove that week and swimming with the dolphins. I really appreciate all of the information here! I'm debating on a cabana.. Do you think it is worth the price or should we add on the photo package and feeding the ray feeding?
It's really up to you and what's most important to your family. If it were the cabana OR feeding the rays, I know my family would opt for the stingrays, because it's so much fun. But your family may value the added privacy, dedicated space and chill time of the cabanas. Let us know what you decide. Would I be able to watch and take pictures of my 13 year old daughter swim with the dolphins or do I have to purchase that package too?
Our friends at SeaWorld assured us that they have something to accommodate every size, so we wouldn't worry! We have Discovery Cove reservation for this 4th of July. Will the park feel busy or normal since they limit to guests?
Great question. They do a great job of capping the number of guests so it never feels too crowded. It will be busy, but you shouldn't notice a huge difference compared to a normal day.
Discovery Cove is incredibly wheelchair accessible, and even offers its own sand-friendly wheelchairs to guests. I am planning on bringing my 5 kiddos here Thanks in advance!
Children ages must be accompanied by a paying adult who also is participating in the dolphin swim experience. Check with Discovery Cove at for more information.
Done this with my step sister, was an amazing little island look alike, so beautifully done, felt sorry for the dolphins as when bot interacting with humans they are stuck in pools like a pond in a closure and they live their all their life which I find personally quite cruel to make money.. And a bit expensive dollars for the package pics.. Went to the aviary where their was a women in one of the aviary with a green shirt on worker and was rude to everyone even touching a bird I mean that's what we are paying for.
She was rude to almost e every tourist I heard her talking to.. Other than that food was great great guides and a beautiful place I will take my kids in a few years. We are going to Discovery Cove in October and have booked a dolphin swim. What ID do we need to take for checking in. We have a child aged 8 and myself and my husband. Can one parent do the dolphin experience w one child while the other parent and child stay back with our toddler?
Then we can swap out? Or should one parent go w both children at the same time? Then the other parent wouldn't participate in the dolphin experience and sits out w our one year old. We have purchased 5 Discovery Cove passes for this November. Hi- we are planning on going to discovery cove in March. I've been reading reviews on trip advisor, and some have said the dolphin experience was not worth the money bc of long wait times, etc.
I have 10 year old twins. Do you recommend doing the dolphin swim and the sea venture? I'm worried this may not give us enough time for snorkeling and other activities.
The dolphin experience is well worth it, but it does depend on your children's interests of course. Sea Venture is also a one-of-a-kind experience. With limits on the number of people who can do both of these experiences, as well as get into the park, you should have no problem getting time for snorkeling and all of the other experiences. We plan to come to Orlando the last week of April. Will the water be too cold for Discovery Cove? We want to do swim with Dolphin and snorkelling.
It shouldn't be too bad. Some of the pools are kept cooler for the animals, but there are wet suits you are free to use. They might, but it's doubtful.
Most pools are quite comfortable and heated during cooler times. The wetsuits are primarily for the Dolphin Encounter, as that pool is quite chilly, and your daughter will not be old enough to get in.
Hi we're looking to come to florida in October I have a 8 ur old and a 4 year old I no he can swim with the dolphin but would he Beable to touch them and be close to them with me? Unfortunately, he will not be able to get in the dolphin pool. The encounter does take place in shallow water near the beach, and he could be there on the beach and definitely see what is going on, but he would not be able to touch the dolphins.
Anything that shouldn't be done? Still purchase dolphin tics? For visiting the dolphins, you have the option to just be up close and touch them if you didn't want to swim with them they do do all of the work. The other pools range in depth, but there are plenty that are shallow or shallow in parts that I don't think not being able to swim should keep you from having a great time.
Life jackets will also be available. They let you reschedule once free of charge. If you reschedule a second time they charge you Discovery Cove tickets are not refundable unless canceled at least 30 days prior to reservation date. As far as the experience, it is rain or shine. There are wetsuits if that helps. How far in advance do we need to book our day at Discovery Cove with dolphin swim? I'm waiting to find out whether I'll be traveling for work over the summer, so I can't book anything until I know my travel schedule.
I was aiming for August for people. We are planning to visit 2nd or 3rd week of December. Will it be too cold to visit Discovery Cove and Aquatica? Travelling with 3 kids 13, 11,7. Depends on where you're coming from ; You're looking at average highs in the low to mids. The pools will be heated at Aquatica, and at Discovery Cove you will have the option of a wetsuit. For our tadpoles, that's just fine.
I'm traveling to the area in August, 15 to Tried to get the tickets but none were available for any of days of our trip. Is it possible that you more at some point?
If I go to their site, there are tickets available. We have limited inventory for those dates. Please check back as cancellations may open for additional swims! The day package includes day unlimited admission to SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica. The ultimate package adds on day unlimited admission to Busch Gardens. The price varies by date. You can select your tickets here. Once you enter your date, you will see the price.
Do you sell a day pass to Discovery cove only as we have tickets for Sea World etc and if so how much are they for adults and children. Please reach out to our customer service team directly at or by email at info undercovertourist. I am taking my granddaughter to Florida and would love to see her swim with the Dolphins. My only problem is she will be 5 years 11 months when we go.
She can swim and isn't scared of the water at all but absolutely loves Dolphins. Do they check ages eg. Passports etc before they allow kids to swim with the Dolphins? It would be a great shame for her to miss out on such a memorable experience for just being 4 weeks short of 6 years! Yes, young children would absolutely love it, especially for the beaches, swimming and the animals.
They just would not be able to participate in the Dolphin Swim or SeaVenture. All rights reserved. Entertainment Inc. All Rights Reserved.
